So it is official. I am diabetic. Between my weight and the family history, I shouldn’t be surprised. Doc just put me on Metformin HCL 500mg twice a day (to be taken with food…. that is important.) It may even help me lose weight, which in turn will help with the diabetes and the high blood pressure.
Okay, I can do this. It isn’t like I have to take insulin shots at this point. Checking my sugar levels may still be an issue, with my inability to deal with needles (or anything resembling an injection) for myself, but… we will deal with it as need be.
So, I also decided to take a look into dietary changes to help deal with it all. Why is it every blasted menu I’ve looked at so far as avocados listed for breakfast? I am not a huge fan of avocados. And while I knew I really need to cut back or cut out the soda…. I have to give up my french fries too??? On the plus side, nothing says I need to give up some other favorites, like cottage cheese, nuts, berries, apples, oranges, or eggs.
Guess the next step will be starting to make changes in the shopping list and menus for the weeks ahead. Little steps.
