The air is cooler, the nights are longer, my daughter is starting to spread her wings a bit more than ever, and I have changes to make in my own life.
Last week, due to finances, I went three or four days without cigarettes. It wasn’t pretty. I was literally too sick to work on Wednesday. Thursday, I bought smokes.
I shouldn’t have. I really can’t afford to keep smoking, financially. Probably not doing my health any good either. And I guess now is the perfect time to work on quitting. The Kidling and the SO are in England, so they won’t get caught in the fall-out. Mom is upstairs, but she can just lock me out of her apartment if I get too hard to deal with. I have noticed when I am busy doing something physical, I don’t tend to look for the cigarette. So, I plan to attack this apartment and get it ready for fall/winter. I have been walking more with Mom in the evenings, and we try to get out on Saturdays. Last weekend was the Tug Boat Round-Up; the weekend before that was Schaghticoke; today is Halfmoon’s Village-wide Garage Sale.
Which could have the added benefit of helping me lose weight, and maybe fix some other incipient health issues.
So, wish me luck; and if you hear explosions from my direction, just avoid me for a few days and move all breakables to safer areas.
