Yeah, I’m a day early. Blame it on Cohoes High School. And the Middle School.. Or at least the band and choruses.
Last year, my daughter had a thought about a patriotic concert in honor of vets. It didn’t happen. Apparently, great minds think alike, because this summer, our new district Superintendent approached the high school and middle school music departments with a request for just such a concert. Tonight, we got it. The kids did an awesome job. I really enjoyed it. I would have enjoyed it more if the guy behind us kept his mouth shut better.
And they had a table set up for the city’s Memorial Committee, with information and fund-raising for the update of the memorial on Columbia Street. When that’s done, it is going to be freaking AWESOME. They had a bucket of little toy soldiers… take one home as a prayer for those currently deployed. Yeah, Mom, Kidling and I all put in our dollars and came home with a new addition. Meriah’s is a mine-sweeper…. she said it reminded her of Tripwire. Mom found one that reminded her of Daddy. Mine sorta reminds me of Rock-n-Roll.
To all of you who have served in any branch of the US Armed Forces…. and those who served in the Armed Services of our allied nations…. Have a BLESSED day tomorrow. THANK YOU for your service, and the sacrifices you and your families made. I will be at work, but I will be thinking of family and friends who walked that walk. Mom and the Kidling will be at Saratoga.
