Busy Weekend

Sometimes, the Kidling and I sleep late on the weekends. That wasn’t an option this weekend. Yesterday, we did a two hour volunteer stint at the high school for NYSSMA. Watching all those kids going in nervous and coming out smiling and relaxed was a trip. Gotta ask Alyne how the concession stand made out. From there, it was right over to Broad Street Cafe to meet up with Donna and Pam. I haven’t seen Pammie in 30 years! Her smile hasn’t changed. She and Donna are still two of the great people in my life, even though we travel different roads. I have been so lucky with the people in my life, for the most part. Even without seeing each other for long periods of time, we can catch up and pick up quickly, and it’s all good.

This morning, we were a little late getting started, but the Kidling still managed to get the lawn done before it gets too hot. And we aren’t using a gas or electric mower, either. Mom got one of those old-fashioned push jobs. Like the Kidling says, it has benefits: you get the grass cut, you get a workout, and you work on your tan. My job, as it usually is, is the laundry. NO dryer at this time of year; it smells better off the clothes line and we save on the electric. Also got the kitchen cleaned and some of the living room (I am making her get under the couch, I don’t even sit there too often!)

Time for the next load!
