The first day of the New Year… or Turn’s End, in Pernese lingo… and it wasn’t a bad start. Mom is home and doing MUCH better… although a good chunk of Friday may remain a blank to her. Tomorrow, I need to make sure she gets in touch with her doctor and schedules that MRI. Then I need to talk to my boss to make sure I have that day off.
One of my life-long traditions has been watching the Tournament of Roses Parade on New Years, even if I had to tape it. Today, Hubs saved my tradition by finding the link so I could watch it on-line when I got home from work. I am SO glad he did. I would have hated to miss the equestrian teams, the beautiful floats and costumes… and this year, I would have missed a VERY special float. Not only was the float dedicated to American Service Dogs (which have finally been recognized as Service PERSONNEL instead of EQUIPMENT), if was the platform for a special home-coming. I love seeing the surprise in the faces of loved ones when their soldier/sailor/Marine/Airman come home from combat deployments.
Here’s hoping that 2013 brings us better futures that 2012, and that this time next year, we’ll be able to look back and say “That was a good year. That was a very good year.”
