Yeah, it’s October. The time of year when all the movies about monsters, magic, and misunderstood concepts are all over the television. The serious Pagan boards on the web will be over-run with “Playgans”…those who see a movie or read a single book and now have “kewl awezom powers”. Names like “FairyFriend RowanRose of SparkleMagic Coven” take up more space then their posts do. The good thing is, most of them don’t last long. The bad thing is… everything else. They want answers on a silver platter, want short-cuts that do not exist. They think they can call themselves High Priest/ess after reading a single book, that they can do anything they want, mix deities at will without even knowing anything about those god/desses, and demand we who have studied longer than they have been alive this time around bow down before their superiority.
Give me a break. Or better yet, let me break something heavy over their heads. Maybe then they’ll learn a few things. Like not all Pagans are White Light Fluffy Bunnies. That using tools you don’t understand or respect can have very dangerous repercussions. Messing with things because you think they’re “Kewl” can have even MORE dangerous repercussions, and you won’t be able to close that door once you open it.
I am a Pagan. To me, it is a way of life, a spiritual connection; and I have been studying and walking this path for close to forty years. Do not come within my reading/hearing/line of sight with bogus claims about being reconnected to powers you were granted in some past life, demanding my respect, being arrogant as hell, when you don’t have clue one. Don’t demand I give you answers. I am not in the habit of handing ignorant fools loaded guns.
